Quick Apple Crisp

  • 1 cup sweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup granola
  • Dash of cinnamon

Mix applesauce with granola and cinnamon. Makes 2 servings.

Crunchy Butterflies

  • 1 Tbsp. peanut butter
  • 1 celery stalk, cut into two pieces
  • 2 whole-grain pretzel sticks
  • 4 whole-grain pretzel twists

Spread peanut butter in both celery stalks. Break pretzel sticks in half. Put the two halves in the peanut butter on each stalk to make the antenna. Arrange two pretzel twists on each stalk to make the wings. Makes 2 servings.

PB & J Wafflewiches

  • 2 frozen waffles
  • 1 Tbsp. peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp. jelly or jam
  • 1/2 banana, sliced

Toast waffles as directed on package. Spread one waffle with peanut butter, spread the second waffle with jelly or jam. Arrange banana slices on one waffle, then top with the second waffle to make a sandwich. Cut into quarters. Makes 2 servings.

Easy Snack Mix

  • 2 cups whole grain cereal ("Os" or squares)
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit, such as raisins, cranberries or blueberries
  • 1/2 cup nuts, such as walnut or cashew pieces, or slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup small whole-grain snack crackers or pretzels

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Store in tightly covered container. Makes 6 servings.
